Establish cost-effective technical solutions to assist with maintenance of client Desktop and Web Java applications. The developer must define the scope and requirements to include scheduling, estimating, and quality control. Once the customer has approved these, the developer will plan, coordinate and direct analysis, design, development of the information management solutions. The developer must also identify, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve problems with the aim of eliminating recurrences problems. If necessary, they need to coordinate with other Information Services* areas to implement the solution or resolve problems. Additionally, the developer is responsible for compliance with departmental policies and processes and for performing all duties and activities in a safe and ethical manner. Requires 2 years relevant information systems developement experience.

A qualified candidate should be someone who can work independently * Have extensive Java experience with enterprise applications * Proficient making enhancements to an existing product * Handle their work queue and complete projects according to schedule constraints

To be qualified for this positions a candidate must have * Java server side and standalone(Swing and AWT) development skills * Knowledge of SQL Language, Windows XP/2000, JDeveloper, Netbeans, or compatible IDE * Excellent communication skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Programming Support a. Provide Java programming support for existing and new applications. b. Develop Web applications to be deployed in Tomcat application servers. c. Migrate Web application from Jserv to Tomcat deployment environments. d. Ensure all migrated Web applications are entered into Harvest (Code repository). e. Ensure all migrated Web applications are documented in CMIS. f. Provide computer security improvements to the sites Java applications. g. Implement COTS Web products that can coexist with current environment 2. System support a. Provide assistance with configuration of Apache Web Server and Apache Application Servers. b. Support Web deployment environments for both Windows and Unix. 3. Procedures a. Utilize ITS Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guides such as software, configuration, and project management policies. 4. Customer Service a. Actively manage and improve customer relationships through regular communications, timely completion of agreed-upon milestones and service reliability. b. Assist customers in defining requirements so that the ITS architecture is not compromised. c. Understand customer priorities and objectives and take an active role in accomplishing these objectives. d. Transmit feedback from customers on to other ITS areas or management. e. Keep customers informed of global problems, problem progress, scheduled downtime or anything that affects their system(s). 5. Participatation in other ITS groups a. Reviews ITS Morning Meeting results and upcoming changes with the goal of knowing what is going into production and what could cause problems. Identifies possible problem areas or communication needs. 6. Communication a. Keep peers and manager informed of trends, significant problems, unexpected delays and anything new in the environment. b. Develop project plans with measurable milestones.
